SEACBEC's CSI Classes Conduct Fetal Pig Autopsies

On February 1st - 3rd, 2017 SEACBEC's Crime Scene Investigations (CSI) classes from Warren and Hermitage school districts conducted fetal pig autopsies to examine and discover the cause of death of thirteen fetal pigs. Each pig was altered in some way to mimic a cause of death; it was the CSI students assignment to perform the autopsy to determine what is unusual, and therefore probably associated with the cause of death. Some of the modifications to the pigs may have suggested criminal activity, while others may point to an accident. Students dissected the pigs and recorded all observations of both normal and abnormal appearances throughout the examination. After students had completed the external and internal examinations, their team reviewed their findings and submitted their hypothesis of their fetal pigs cause of death.
