employee visits with students during the finance class exercise at HHS.
Students of Hermitage High School's Office Management class, taught by Kristi Clanton spent part of the day February, 23rd, practicing what they have been studying regarding financial issues and how to handle money matters.  The students entered the cafeteria and were handed cards that gave them a life scenario such as a family with two children or a single mother with children and they had to purchase a home, buy insurance, purchase transportation, buy cloths,  secure child care, etc.  There were venders at various stations in the building for them to visit with and determine how to spend their money.

The purpose of the exercise was to teach budgeting and how to deal with real life financial matters.  Hermitage teachers and local businesses manned the stations and discussed business with each student.  Students were taught how to open savings accounts and how to use credit cards.

The event was organized by the University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture and was put together by Michelle Carter with the Extension Service.  Staff Chairman John Gavin assisted.
Former HHS Agri instructor Joe Don Greenwood spent time discussing finance with the students.

Shelter Insurance Agent Greg Harton talked with students about protecting their assets.

Hermitage Students took notes and asked questions throughout the event.
