The featured scientist will be Mr. David Westbrook of Little Rock, AR.  Mr. Westbrook has been working in the science field for many years.  He graduated from the University of Arkansas with a Bachelor of Science degree in zoology and continues in that field.  He worked for the Little Rock Zoo for twenty-one years and served as Zoo Director for fourteen of those year.  In addition, he worked as an educator with the Little Rock Museum of Discovery where he entertained and wowed onlookers with science  presentations.  Today he  provides STEAM emphasis (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) through his own company “Field Trips 2 You.”  Through this mobile program, Mr. Westbrook is able to provide programs to students all across the state.
Some of the programs include demonstrations with electricity, rocket engineering, edible cars, and other fun presentations. Mr. Westbrook combines education and entertainment to get his participants involved in his shows.
For Saturday’s program,  he will be doing “Matter Matters” where he utilizes dry ice and innovative STEAM-oriented approaches to have students explore and differentiate between types of matter, forms of energy and to study changes when energy is added to remove from matter.  He also has a spectacular collection of small critters including spiders and snakes.   Students will be wowed by his presentation antics and his cool demeanor as he handles small reptiles, all of which are from his private collection.
He is originally from nearby Dumas,AR.  He is married to Kelli Westbrook, a retired zookeeper, and the couple has two sons.
