Lieutenant governor to speak at MWM kickoff

EL DORADO—Lt. Gov. Tim Griffin will be the keynote speaker on Friday as South Arkansas Community College hosts the Million Women Mentors kick-off event for southern Arkansas.
Million Women Mentors is a national organization designed to advance females in science, technology and engineering career fields. Friday’s program is targeted toward volunteers and students. It starts at 9 a.m. and will be held in Murphy Hall I at the El Dorado Conference Center on the college’s campus. Area public school districts have been invited to participate, including those in Bradley County.
SouthArk was selected to spearhead this effort in part because of its annual Girls Learning About Math and Science conference for eighth-grade girls, a partnership effort with the El Dorado Education Foundation that draws about 250 area students and hundreds of volunteers each spring.
